Why We Partner With Literary Agencies
For authors who want to stay indie but keep doors open.
Our platform is built to empower independent authors. You own your work, you control your rights, and you choose how to publish.
But when a book gains traction, it deserves to be seen. That's why we've partnered with a small exclusive group of literary agencies and trade publishers who share our respect for indie creators.
What do they do?
A literary agency represents authors when negotiating book deals with trade publishers. Think of literary agents as professional advocates, helping authors land publishing deals with traditional publishers.
However, for every literary agent, there are thousands of writers globally pitching them each year. Most agents receive hundreds of queries every month and sign only a handful of new clients annually.
That means great authors like you get overlooked every day.
Not because their work isn't good. But because the system is limited.
That's why we built CENSUS BOOKS.
To give writers a way to publish, earn, and grow, without needing to win the traditional publishing lottery.
We're not here to push you toward one path or the other.
We're here to support your goals.
We simply want to make sure the right people can find you.. if and when you're ready.
What Our Partnership Looks Like
Each month, we share a private report with our agency and trade publisher partners showing:
- The highest-selling or most-read books on our platform
- Only with basic metadata (title, author name, genre, and performance data)
- No obligations and no contact with you without your permission.
If an agency or publishers sees something they love, they may ask to connect.
We'll contact you. You're free to say yes, no, or ignore it entirely. We're just the middle man.
You Stay in Control
No Commission
We don't take a cut from any deals or introductions.
Your Manuscript is Protected
No one gets access to your full manuscript unless you allow it.
No Unsolicited Pitching
We never pitch your book without your permission. Agencies only see what's already publicly available, such as your book's title, description, and sample chapters as published on the sales platforms we distribute to.
Opt-in Only
Please note: you won't be contacted unless you've opted in.
